OAR offers 1:1 or 2:1 lessons to adult rowers (ie: over the age of 18). All lessons are each 2-hours long and include all necessary rowing equipment (boat, oars, etc), set-up, and clean-up. Any lessons purchased in a calendar year must be used within that calendar year. Non-OAR members are limited to 5 lessons per calendar year.
If you are interested in individual lessons, please contact Lessons@OlympiaAreaRowing.org with the following information:
What is your current rowing experience?
What are your goals for the lesson(s)?
What does your availability look like?
Do you have a preferred coach in mind?
We will help you get matched up with the right coach and schedule the lessons. Current OAR members can purchase lessons through their existing iCrew account by going to Club Home, Club Store, Lessons.
Individual Lessons are open to the public. Most students new to the sport will need around 3-5 lessons to have a good understanding of the rowing stroke whereas students who have rowed on the water previously may only need 1-3 lessons. Students do not need to join OAR nor join USRowing in order to participate, but they will need to have a completed Float Test.
