New rowers will learn the basics, while returning athletes can continue developing their technique between racing seasons. Since 1991, Capital City Pride has hosted the annual Pride festival in Washington State’s capital, drawing nearly 15,000 people to downtown Olympia for a vibrant parade and community celebration. Pride serves as a major event for the LGBTQ+ and allied communities, featuring entertainment, food vendors, craft and community booths, a family fun area, and the ever-popular Pride Parade. Olympia Area Rowing is proud to support and have a presence at this important event, joining friends, families, and community members in celebrating inclusion, connection, and pride.

The South Sound BBQ Festival is a popular, family-friendly summer community celebration hosted by the Lacey South Sound Chamber of Commerce. Held nearby at Huntamer Park in Lacey, WA, this event showcases slow-cooked, traditional barbecue from a variety of professional food trucks and backyard pitmasters. This year, Olympia Area Rowing (OAR) will be present at the festival as a community organization.
