OAR offers two types of coached programming for adults.
Winter Indoor Training. For Adult Winter Training (Feb thru mid-March) it is not required to be an OAR member and it is not necessary to have any prior rowing experience.
Rowing on the Water. The Spring (mid-March thru June), and Fall (July thru Oct) coached sessions are for rowers who have completed at least a Learn to Row class, 3-5 private lessons (and approval of the coach), or have prior rowing experience. These sessions are for those who want to row on a regular basis in a coached environment in team boats.
OAR membership is required for participation in Spring and Fall coached sessions. Additional season fees are assessed to cover the cost of running the coached season (eg: coach/admin time, launch fuel). Exception: Beginning rowers who join the club are automatically enrolled in Novice sessions at no additional charge.
On-water practices are generally 2 hours. Rowers are encouraged to show up 15 minutes prior to practice start time to help prepare and set up equipment for the day.
The schedule varies depending on season and time of year due to length of daylight. Also check our calendar for up-to-date info on when coached practices are scheduled.
On-land training (indoor rowing machines, free weights, body circuits, yoga, mobility). You are not required to be a member to participate.
