Learn to Row: Basic Sculling
Learn to Scull
What is sculling?
(other than a funny word).
In sculling, each rower uses two oars [in sweep rowing, each rower has only one oar]. Class participants will learn to row in safe, sturdy MAAS Aero boats called "shells." These are "singles" - one rower per boat.
In this four-session class, you'll learn how to handle the shells (lifting them, carrying them, getting them in and out of the water), safety, and basic rowing technique.
Once you successfully complete the course, you are then eligible to become a member and continue rowing in the club.
Membership in OAR
includes access to coached practices from mid-February through mid-November, plus access to club boats anytime for rowing by yourself or with others in a variety of boats - during daylight hours!
Classes are limited to six rowers per session to ensure positive, productive, and empowering experiences for all. Spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis once we receive your registration forms and payment. Registration is required. Classes fill quickly.
