Adult Learn-to-Row Program 2010
Learn the basics of team rowing in 8-oared shells during this 10-session novice class. The course will include shell-handling, safety, and basic rowing technique. This class teaches team rowing with one oar per person which is called “sweep” rowing. Once through this introductory course you are encouraged to join the OAR Adult Rowing Program.
2010 classes will be offered in May and July. Session 1: May 10, 13, 15,17, 20, 22, 24,27, 29, 31 (10 classes) Session 2: July 12, 15, 17, 19, 22, 24, 26, 29, 31, Aug. 2 (10 classes)
Schedule: Classes meet Monday and Thursday evenings, 5:45-7:45, and Saturday mornings, 10-12noon.

Cost: $175 for non-OAR members, $75 for OAR members. If you choose to join the club upon completion of the class, $50 of the class fee may be applied toward OAR's $350 annual membership ($530 family membership).
Swim test: You must take a 10 minute swim/float test at a local pool before you begin the class. The swim test form below must be signed by the lifeguard at the pool.
After the Learn-to-Row Program, membership includes access to coached practices for “sweep” participants from mid-February through mid-November with 3 practices per week (once per week until daylight savings time begins). An $80 per rower fee is charged each season (spring, summer and fall) to pay for coaching and launch operation. (Members are expected to provide a minimum of 1 hour of service to the club per month.)
