The club's uniform is a black unisuit with white and red stripes on the sides and the OAR logo on the front, or a black tank top with stripes and logo plus plain black tights or shorts.
Dress for the Weather Rowers should come to practice ready to work out, no matter what the weather. For each practice, rowers should: • Wear comfortable athletic clothes to work out in. Avoid cotton on cool or wet or windy days. Dress in layers that work well during cold weather. • Avoid baggy shirt or shorts that could get stuck in the seat tracks. Spandex tight-fitting warm base layers are widely used and available in all sizes from Alpine Experience, Olympic Outfitters and REI. Or you can order rowing clothing online from JL Rowing. • Wear athletic shoes and socks. Running is a routine part of training for rowing. • Gloves are not used during any on-the-water rowing practices, but are useful for land workouts in cold weather. • Bring a water bottle to practice. Practices occur even in inclement weather. When the weather conditions are unsafe for rowing, coaches will run a land training workout. Plan to dress appropriately for the weather every day. You might be asked to ride in the coach's launch or even cox a boat. This can be chilly, even on a warm day, so make a point to dress more warmly in layers that you can take off if you heat up.
Uniform Orders At the discretion of the coach and parents, OAR may choose to order a less expensive tank top or a team sweatshirt for the junior rowers. Purchase of a team uniform is the responsibility of the rower or parents.
Uniforms and other technical rowing gear are ordered from www.jlracing.com. Sweatshirts and tee-shirts are ordered locally from Color Graphics.
Uniform and Gear Order Form Adult rowers - please send a note to Sue Hedrick (suehedrick@yahoo.com) if you have questions about uniform orders. Junior rowers can give completed order forms to their coach.
